So Saturday will be fun...

Big time race Saturday. 55 mile loop, lots of dirt roads and steep climbs. Not my type of race usually, but this year I'm riding so much better I'm very optimistic. Now let's just see if my team comes through and delivers my uniforms before the race and if they can deliver some support.

As you can see, this will be an interesting day. The forecast is for 65 and sun, though I think rain would make this race epic and titlt the scales in my favor. I'm considered a rain rider, due in part to the fact that I ride just as hard in the rain, many times even faster and it tends to shed the more timid riders afraid of crashing. Either way it'll be fun, and I hope to do well.

Oh yeah, one other thing. I see only two souls posted a comment on my last post. How is that? One of the most serious posts of my blog, and I figured many would weigh their opinions on it, but I might be delusional in thinking that many people actually read this blog on a consistent basis.

Lastly, congrats to my high school classmate Lora who just gave birth to a baby boy!!! Woohoo!! I'm so happy for you I could cry!!!!! What a journey to get here you've had.

Re the last post, I still feel SUVs are the root of all evil, but am willing to concede that hybrids aren't perfect ;) I don't drive anyway so I feel rather detached from the debate.

Good luck with the race!

And I am so happy for Lora...

SUVs are up there, esp since one hit me with a rearview mirror in 04 and fractured my left shoulder while I was riding my bike. At least the driver was very nice and piad for everything at the hospital. The race will be a tough one, I doubt I'll even see the scenery.
And Lora, what can I say about her and Liam? Cool.

Wait until Binghampton, I'll be ringing that baby like no one's business. Oh you'll know I'm there, alright! :)

I read your blog everyday, but I don't know enough about hybrids to comment one way or another. And I do try not to comment on topics I know little to nothing about. Sometimes I give in to the temptation, though!

One thing I did read recently was that environmentalists are concerned that the hype around a couple of hybrid models has created the public perception that the auto industry has done all it can to make more efficient cars. But there are still only a limited number of hybrids and most of them are way out of the price range for the average American family. Further, the environmental groups pushing that hybrids aren't the final solution, but one step toward the solution.

So I guess I commented anyway.

Hope you are having a great race as I type.

That looks like work bring on the chocolate bunnies!

Well, efficiency is another whole matter. My dad had a Triumph TR-3a in 1959 with a 4 cylinder 2 liter engine that got over 30mpg, and it was a fast sports car! Think about that....

Than you and I have a good excuse for not having read it, but I'll go read it now.
